Sun Safety Tips for Babies

1. Put on sunscreen 20-30mins before heading outside. I got this Green Beaver natural sunscreen from a local health store. It was a bit on the pricey side but well worth the peace of mind to know that I’m using a natural product on her delicate skin. It spreads easily into an oily film so you won’t have to use a lot but I like knowing that all her little exposed body parts are well covered. (Don’t forget the back of the neck and tops of the feet)

2. Cover your baby’s arms and legs in lightweight, light-colored clothing. Light colors reflect the heat and keep skin cooler than dark colors, which absorb heat (Wear a wide brim hat and try to face away from the sun while playing on the swings)

3. The sun is strongest between 11:00am – 4:00pm. So when you can, time your stroller walks or playground playdates with your baby earlier than 11:00am or later than 4:00pm. ( Don’t forget to bring along a water bottle to stay well hydrated for both Mommy & Baby)

Glamour Day Events

The Story behind Glamour Day Events,

In 2000, through my participation in The Toronto Chinese Beauty Pageant. I was introduced to charity fundraising for local retirement and nursing homes. After the competition, I began to work as a volunteer at one of the local nursing homes and continued volunteering in many homes within my community at various events.

Glamour Day Events is a volunteer base program that gives FREE spa treatments and make-overs to senior residents living in long-term care and nursing homes, we offer them the experience to be pampered and feel beautiful again.

Glamour Day has been an ongoing project for the past 14 years. I believe that by combining passion and a gentle touch. We can re-create beauty through spa treatments and make-overs to our seniors, this can all help them to recapture their youthfulness and  boost their self-esteem during this time of transition in their life.

Glamour Day Events aim to:

1. Re-Introduce beauty to our seniors through hair styling , make-up application, manicure, pedicure and relaxation aromatherapy massages.

2. Reduce the isolation felt by some of our seniors living in a nursing home and through creation of beauty, our seniors can feel beautiful again and give them a renewed sense of wellbeing.

How You Can Help:

My Baby & My Body

Like most women, I’ve struggle with weight issues and self-image for most of my life.

As a former fashion model, who had spent the last 10 years competing in beauty & fitness competitions, self-image was a constant uphill battle for me.

At any given time in my life, I was constantly on a new fad diet trying lose weight in hopes of fulfilling my career as an aspiring model. When I got into the world of body building and strived for a fitness modeling career, my diet was constantly under the scrutiny of how much protein I needed to consume vs how little carbs I was allow to eat in order to keep my body fat percentage low.

On December 25th 2012. When the little blue indicator on a stick moved to an unmistakable (+). I thanked God for this wonderful blessing in my life and made a promise to love & protect this little miracle of mine.

From that moment on, my life with food & fitness was forever changed… for the better. The epiphany was that there is so much more to life than counting calories, or worrying about how I looked on the outside when a tiny miracle was happening inside my body.

It wasn’t until, I got pregnant and started to focus all my attention & energy on nurturing this growing baby inside my body that I finally learned the real “SECRET” to having a wonderful relationship with my self-image and appreciating my beautiful body simply lies in nourishing My Baby & My Body.
