Feeding baby is so much fun. I love how our little darling is such a good eater, she’ll take big gulps of her favourite foods like Bananas, Apples, Pears & Sweet Potatoes (basically all the sweet stuff) 😛 . She’ll also eat the less yummies foods like Lentils, Peas, Chicken & Turkey but taking much smaller bites & sometimes pretending like she is too busy to eat, LOL (such a smart little monkey). The not-so-fun part of starting solid foods is suspecting that she might have a gluten intolerance. Since our daughter is half Asian, the first grain of choice was naturally white rice 😛 unfortunately she had a hard time digesting it. So, we switched her to pearl barley in hopes of providing her with a grain with more fibre and she ended up getting a mild rash after every meal. Luckily, we had stuck to the 2-3day rule of trying a new food and so it was easy for us to figure out the culprit for her rash.
Since, we have decided not to start her with commercial baby cereal, (base on our own research and parental choice) we had to find an alternative way of providing her with a good source of iron. There are many options of providing baby with iron-rich foods without having to give them commercial baby cereal.
Introducing: Royal Quinoa
Royal Quinoa + Bananas = Gluten-Free Baby Breakfast
How to Prepare:
- Bring 150ml of water to a boil
- Add 1tbsp of Royal Flaked Quinoa & stir
- Cook gently for about 2mins
- Remove from heat
- Cover and let stand for 3mins
- Mix in 1/4 ripe banana (mashed)
Quinoa Flakes, Banana, Bowl & Tablespoon
All this food in that little tummy!
